Grizzly Peak Fly Fishers is dedicated to the ongoing education in the art, science, and sport of fly fishing.  One of our cornerstone programs is the GPFF Foundational Fly Fishing Seminar.  Historically, offered in the spring & fall. The seminar provides entry through intermediate level anglers everything they need to know about the sport, including: Essential Equipment needed, Knots & Leaders, Casting, Stream water reading, Entomology, Fish Identification & Fly use, Landing and Releasing Fish and more.


This is NOT a ‘survey’ course, it is a full, comprehensive course that will give you the confidence and preparedness to move forward productively in the sport. 


Vaccination PLUS Booster is Mandatory to attend.

posted in the membership directory next to your name after you have confirmed your 'vax'

as proof of our 'vax' confirmation with the membership team.



What you get:  A 'Link' to a 50+ page, full-color course text, with plenty of lined pages for taking notes you can print outStarter Kit: Practice Knot tying materials, Practice Casting Leader with False Fly.  Additionally, you will be assigned a ‘mentor’ that you can contact at any time for help and advice.  You’ll get a coveted Grizzly Peak Certificate of Completion upon graduation (suitable for framing).  First session, October 26th is 90-minutes (or so) Zoom course, ~ 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.  Second session, October 27th ~ 90-minutes that competes the classroom sessions. With the Third & Final session, October 28th ~ 2 hours (or as needed) 'on-the-grass' above the Kensington Library (above where we meet for our LIVE monthly meetings).


What to bring to Final casting session:  Rod, reel & fly line.  (Let Mark know IF you need a club loaner for casting instruction).  Sunglasses (or some sort of protective glasses) for eye protection safety, a hat is recommended.  We'll have a practice leader for casting.

Our coaches have decades of experience and will be working with you at your current level to help you develop the foundations you need to move forward productively.


Seminar Fee:  Members $75, Non-members $115 (that includes a year’s membership). REGISTER NOW as the class is limited to 16 students with registration closing until next year March 11th, 2023. 


Registration/Payment:  Zoom Class is limited to 16 participants. Payment can be made through the GPFF’s calendar on our website via Paypal. Checks are also accepted. Make checks payable to GPFF and send them to PO Box 153 El Cerrito, Ca 94530.
