McCloud - May 25-29, 2018 (Fri-Tue). Skill level: Intermediate to advanced, but you must be in good physical shape, and comfortable in moving water and on slick rocks.
Todd Pond, fishmaster, toddpond@ymail.com, (cell) 510-520-4485.

The McCloud is a true California gem, the best California has to offer. The spring is a great time to fish this river, If we are lucky, we may get to fish the salmon fly hatch.

I know the river very well. I plan on camping at Ah-Di-Na if there are spots available, if not, I will be in the over-flow camping area. This trip is weather/river condition permitting and may get canceled at anytime. Please note, that is river is located in an isolated canyon, down a dirt road, 7 miles. Most cars have no problem driving to Ah-Di-Na, although a truck or SUV is better. Also, most of the river has a nice trail to hike on, but please be aware that the hiking is not easy due to rocks, inclines and vegetation. Wading can be a little challenging, too.  It is important to know your limitations and also slow down a little while hiking and wading. This trip is open for all levels of anglers from beginner to pro.

NOTE: This outing is located far from medical services, in a remote canyon where wading is difficult and injuries are not uncommon. This outing is a fun trip that will test (and hopefully improve) your angling skills, but it is not recommended for beginning anglers, those with limited wading skills, or people with health and fitness issues.

Please contact me if you have any questions.
Enjoy, Todd
