McCloud - Sept 7- 10, 2018 (Fri-Mon). Due to the Delta fire, we have decided to exit stage left, we are going to the East Walker, California's other gem. Please contact Todd Pond, fishmaster, toddpond@ymail.com, (cell) 510-520-4485 for current information. I am leaving Friday night at 7pm. If anyone is interested, contact me, here is room in my car.
The McCloud is a true California gem, the best California has to offer, and a world recognized fishery. The late summer and fall are great times to fish this river. Personally, I know the river very well and planning on investing sometime on it this fall. I plan on camping at Ah-Di-Na, if there are spots available, if not, I will be in the over-flow camping area. This trip is weather/river condition permitting and may get canceled at any time. Please note that this river is located in an isolated canyon, down a dirt road, 7 miles. Most cars have no problem driving to Ah-Di-Na, although a truck or SUV is better. Also, most of the river has a nice trail to hike on, but please be aware that the hiking is not easy due to rocks, inclines and vegetation. Wading, at times, can be a very challenging, too. It is important to know your limitations and also slow down a little while hiking and wading. There is a special surprise this year for Grizzly Peak Fly Fishers.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Enjoy, Todd
