East Walker Donor Run
I am looking for a few dedicated fly fishers for a trip to the eastern side Saturday November 24th, either the East Walker or east Carson.
The East Walker is a great fishery this time of year, if you can bear the elements. Temperatures start below freezing but quickly reaches a high of about 50-60. The river level is low, which makes for great technical fishing. Our day will start at 4am, when we leave Berkeley, after a couple of great conversations, stop for gas, and breakfast, we will arrive riverside around 8:30, just in time for a full-days fishing. Nymphing and streamer fishing should produce the best results. I plan on fishing until sundown, then pack up and head home. It's a long day, but well worth the effort. The East Walker has some of the most beautiful brown trout I have ever seen.
As an alternative, we could go to the East Carson, or the Truckee, both 3 hours compared to 4. Both rivers would involve much more hiking.
Please prepare for cold weather conditions and pack enough food for a day on the river. This trip may be canceled at any time due to river, road and or weather conditions. If interested, please contact me, Todd, at toddpond@ymail.com or call me at 510-520-4485
