McCloud Pick-Up Trip

Registration is closed

I have organized a small group of fly fishers to go to the McCloud river in June. Unfortunately, for anyone outside of the group, reserved passes will not be available to fish the conservancy. There are 5 walk on passes available on a first come first serve basis. Fortunately, there is plenty of great fishing above the conservancy, for several miles. For this reason, I am extending an invitation to Grizzly Peak Fly Fishers to join us, either fishing the conservancy, and or camping with us. One thing to keep in mind, most of us will be spending the entire day fishing the conservancy. So, this is an unguided trip, which means there will not be people around to show you how and where to fish. Please be prepared to fish and explore alone. At night and early morning, there will be people to point fly fishers in the right direction, if needed. Early June is prime time on the McCloud so there will be other anglers around. As far as camping goes, most likely, we will be camping, as close to the conservancy as possible. Details will be shared the week of the trip. We will arrive Friday night, just in time to snuggle in, fish Saturday, Sunday, and maybe Monday. If you would like to join us, register for the trip, if you would like to ask me a question, please email me at toddpond@ymail.com. Another important note, most of the river is in National Forest land, therefore anyone can go with any skill level of fishing, whether you register or not. Please remember, this river is in an isolated canyon, the only way to get there is a dirt road, 7 miles. The river, in places, is hard to access and wade. Therefore, it is important to know your limitations and slow down while hiking and wading.
