The Califonia Delta is home to Striped Bass, Black Bass, and Panfish. This outing would be targeting Stripers, but largemouth are a common catch. A boat is required, and they are available for rent at Sugar Barge Marina on Frank’s Tract, where we will be launching. Float tubes are not appropriate. When the tide gets ripping, you could easily wind up in the next county. For most boats with fly casters, a maximum of 2 anglers is best. Folks can partner for rentals at Sugar Barge. Advance reservations are recommended. 7 – 9 weight rods are common. The most useful is probably an 8 or 9 wt with a T-11 or T-14 line, although intermediate, and floating lines both find their uses here, especially along the numerous rock-covered dikes that are a prominent features of the Delta.
